GIFT VOUCHERS AVAILABLE!
3D and 4D baby scans are available at our clinics in Stockport, Central Manchester, and North Wales. All clinics are within easy commuting distance from Merseyside and Liverpool, Lancashire and Derbyshire.
3D and 4D baby scanning is an amazing three dimensional picture of your baby on the screen. Your baby can even sometimes be seen moving, yawning, sucking its thumb and even smiling. A truly magical experience!
For a 3D or 4D baby scan appointment we allow approximately 30 -45 minutes (although the scan time will be much less) which gives you time to relax, enjoy the experience, ask questions and share this exciting time with friends or relatives. It also allows time for your baby to move around to enable us to get the best possible images.
You will receive a CD of your baby scan which you can then use toreproduce the pictures on your own computer at home and e-mail them to friends. Depending on the package you choose we can also save the scan onto DVD which includes both the traditional 2D pictures as well as the 3D and 4D images to be played time and time again. We will also give you some traditional 2D scan pictures and 4 colour prints of the 3D image of your choice.
Note: We DO NOT supply and charge for additional copies of the discs so there are NO restrictions on the CD or DVD and you are free to make as many copies at home as you like.
For the best images of your baby we recommend that you arrange an appointment for between 24 weeks and 32 weeks.
PLEASE NOTE:
We consider all our baby scans to be diagnostic and never scan just for entertainment. The health of you and your baby is our primary concern, so our sonographers will be checking that your baby is developing normally and that there are no obvious or potential problems with the pregnancy. The sonographer will look at the following areas and you will be given a progress report of our findings to take away:
- The placental site and the amount of fluid around your baby
- Your baby’s head and brain structure
- The heart
- Your baby’s spine, stomach, bladder and kidneys
- The umbilical cord
- All four limbs and the position of the feet
- Your baby’s growth rate
- We can also tell you the sex of your baby if you wish
If they find anything of concern you will be informed and a report will be sent to your midwife/doctor.

FAQ's
What's the difference between 3D and 4D baby scans?
Answer: 3D images are still images and 4D images are animated, (so the fourth dimension is time).
Is a baby scan always successful?
Not always. There are some factors that can affect the success of your baby scan, the most common being the position of your baby but mum's build and a high BMI can also affect the quality of the pictures. If this happens we will ask you to get up, walk about and have a drink to encourage your baby to move. In some cases when we cannot get good quality images it will be appropriate to offer you another appointment but conditions do apply - please see notes for individual packages above.
I’m having twins, does this make a difference?
Yes it can. The success of your baby scan will depend on the amount of room your baby has to move around which is why we recommend coming before 33 weeks. If you are having twins you should consider having the 3D scan at around 24 – 28 weeks.
