Clinics in St Asaph, North Wales and Stockport, South Manchester

NHS Patients

We currently scan a large number of NHS patients on behalf of Stockport Primary Care Trust and Denbighshire/Flintshire Local Health Boards.  In these areas, some doctors can choose to refer patients to the local hospital or to us. This service is free and paid for by your local health authority.

If you have been referred to us for an ultrasound scan you will receive an appointment letter which will include the following information.

  • Your reference number (which should be used in all correspondence)
  • Details of where to go for your appointment and how to get there.
  • Details of any preparation required for the scan.
  • Our contact details should you have any questions.

The service you can expect.

We will notify you of your appointment in writing (as above). The waiting time for a non-urgent appointment is approximately 5 weeks but you will be seen sooner if your doctor requests.

If your appointment is at an inconvenient time you can telephone our advice line on 01745 582002 and we will re-arrange your appointment for you. This may not mean that you will be seen any sooner and in most cases an alternative appointment will be offered at a later date than the original.

Your ultrasound scan will be performed by a Consultant Ultrasound Practitioner who will be happy to explain the procedure to you. After your appointment the Sonographer will prepare a report which is then sent to a Consultant Radiologist for verification. The final report is then sent to your doctor and will usually take 7-10 days. We can however provide your doctor with a report within 24 hrs if necessary.

If you wish to cancel your appointment please telephone and let us know as soon as possible so your appointment can be given to someone else.  If you fail to attend your appointment without telling us we are obliged to inform your doctor and you may not be offered another one.

Your Choices.

You can choose to have your ultrasound appointment at your local hospital if you prefer. Your doctor can request this for you.

You can choose to pay for a private appointment and be seen more quickly.  Private appointments can usually be arranged within a few days and medical insurance is not required.  For further details please refer to the private patient information or telephone our advice line on 01745 582002
